Ingrid Mariscal-Dee's Team Sparrow takes on Disney 2018 Fundraiser
I lost my sister, Jessica, to breast cancer in September 2001. She was just 36 years old, a wife, and mother of two beautiful children. Jessica fought stage 4 breast cancer for 3 years before it took her from us.

Because of Jessica’s diagnosis I began early screenings which brought me to the Dyson Breast Center, where I first became familiar with Sparrow’s Nest. When it came time for Isabella to do a volunteer project, I suggested Sparrow’s Nest to honor her Aunt Jessica. I spoke with Krista Jones who was so enthusiastic about bringing us into the kitchen to bake cookies for the meals being delivered to the families that week. The kitchen was busy with volunteers preparing and packing the meals, and it was a great feeling being around such giving people.

Earlier this year when I found myself with extra time, I knew I wanted to spend time volunteering at this charity that was so close to my heart. Each week I get to spend time with the generous and kind people who are part of this charity. This is what inspired me to run a 10K for the first time in my life! I will honor my sister by helping other families facing a cancer diagnosis. I will run for those who can’t!
